VCU Medical Center names Chief Operating Officer
The leadership role assists with planning for growth within the hospital and VCU Health to meet the needs of our patients.
January 08, 2024With more than 30 years of hospital leadership experience, VCU Medical Center has named Jim Willis as its chief operating officer (COO).
While Willis was officially appointed last week, he has been serving as the interim COO since March 2023.
The COO plays an important role in the hospital by overseeing operations and helping the health system plan for growth in service lines and support services.
“Jim is a proven leader ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and compassionate care within complex organizations,” said Michael Roussos, CEO of VCU Medical Center. “I’m confident Jim’s proven track record will continue to advance VCU Medical Center to best meet the needs of our patients and team members.”
During his time as the interim COO, Willis led the hospital’s Violence Prevention and Safety Task Force and helped to successfully implement new safety measures across VCU Health. Willis will continue to collaborate with team members in this leadership role, ensuring they have the support systems in place to provide the best quality care to our patients.
